Trifecta I say!

Happy Monday everyone. While all of you are reading my post I will be off skiing the slopes. We are doing a little getaway this weekend. Hopefully I figured out this posting stuff for it to work ; )
So we are at the end of the month. Is it just me or did January go by way too fast? Since it is the end of the month it is time for Design Dollies Trifecta. What is Trifecta you say? Well go here for all of the details and come join the fun!!!
So for January we started with our colour challenge:

Then the next week we ventured into our elements challenge by doodling.

Finally we finished with a great sketch:

So what did I come up with combining all 3?

I used the blue, red, white and kraft colours, I doodled little dots for a border and I stuck to the sketch pretty closely on this one. I'll be honest sometimes the Trifecta is a bit challenging for me but that's what makes this such a great challenge right?
I hope you join in on the fun. We have a great prize up for grabs so come play along with us here!

I did it!

It's that time again. Me waiting for the last minute to post my project 12 layout. Well, I did it. I did all 12 months in 201o. I am very proud of myself since I have a hard time sticking to things and finishing them but you know what? I'm getting pretty darn good at it ; )
I am also doing a last 20 pounds bootcamp that runs for 12 weeks. I am halfway through and have lost 8 pounds and I know I will continue on even after it's done because I am doing a triathlon in July with my BFF!!!
Back to project 12. ( I got a bit off track ; )
Here is the sketch:
This is what I did.

I had way too many pictures to narrow down but I managed. I did however sneak an extra one. I used Crate Paper Snow Days and all of my border punches that I have been neglecting.

If you missed my big news yesterday you can read yesterdays post here.

a little fun

Hey everyone, Hope you are having a fabulous week. First off I have to apologize to everyone that saw my tutorial over at Scrapbook News and Review that had a spelling error!!!!! Agh, I felt horrible that I submitted a layout with a spelling error. How embarrassing. I was notified and the layout got corrected and re-submitted. So I am so sorry that that happened.
On a lighter note, I have been playing for fun. It seems I have been doing less paint and inky artsy layouts and more romantic simplistic layouts. Have a look:
Using My Minds Eye Lost and Found, Pink Paislee House of 3 chipboard pieces and trim, Tattered Angels glimmer chips, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, Tim Holtz Distress Inks Black soot.
This next one I made with Studio Calico's January kit Who's Who.

I also used Jenni's Bowlins Malted Milk paint dauber.
Off to do more scrapbooking once I get the kids to bed. I haven't done that in a while.

Elements

Happy Monday everyone. Busy weekend in our world yet again but I just had to share what I created for the Elements challenge over at the Dollhouse with my fellow Dollies.
This week the challenge is to create a project (layout, card, altered item) really anything you fancy but it has to have doodling on it. What is doodling you say? Well it is anything hand drawn, or sketched.
This is what I came up with:
I doodled flourishes in white pen throughout my layout. Think you're up for this challenge?
Come on over to the Dollies to play along and see what my fellow DT members did with this challenge. Just so you know the prize for this one is fabulous... Cosmo Cricket Circa 1934!!!!!
Great prize right? Head over to the Design Dollies to link up your page and have yourselves a fabulous Monday!!!!

My first colour challenge with the Dollies

Hi everyone, I am so excited to share with you my first colour challenge with you from the Design Dollies. Now before the big reveal, I just want to share with you a few changes on the Dollies challenge blog.
Each week on MONDAY we will reveal one challenge, which is due on the following SUNDAY. Each week of the month will feature a different challenge format, ie:

1st Monday - COLOUR
2nd Monday - ELEMENT
3rd Monday - SKETCH
4th Monday - TRIFECTA

So with all of that being said I am all ready to share our first colour combo of 2011:
Now isn't that a fab combo? So before I show you my creation I have a small confession. My layout is lovely don't get me wrong but the lighting in my scraproom is horrible. So I ended up choosing a slightly blue/green/teal colour (don't tell on me) ; )

I decided to use a sketch this time around. I used sketch # 137 from Creative Scrappers. I also used the November kit from Studio Calico for this layout including the delicious Mister Huey White!
Please come join us at the Dollhouse and maybe you might get lucky and win the fabulous prize that consists of Ranger goodies!!!
You have until midnight EST on Sunday January the 16th to link up your layouts.

Some great news

Well friends, it is hard to keep a secret. I have been bursting at the seems during the holidays trying to keep this quiet but finally I can spill the beans!

You are now looking at one of the new DT members of the Design Dollies!!!!!! I was guest DT in October for them and had so much that I had to get on bored full time and it is awesome. We have a few changes that I think you will love so come on over to the Dollies blog to say hi to all of the other dollies and of course come play along with us for your chance to win some fabulous prizes!!!!
My other great news is that I am the featured artist over at Scrapbook News and Review this week!
I was asked a while back and made up a fun tutorial on how to use stamps, flock and mists! You can head over to the magazines site HERE to get subscribed so you can see it. I highly recommend it : )
Now my last bit of news is still in the works but I will know more by the end of the week. One of the LSS' I teach at has asked me to become their head educator! This means I will be in charge of designing and teaching classes as well as promoting the classes so you will be seeing more of whats going on. I'll keep you posted ; )
So with all of this being said I did step down from XOXO. I am a little sad to step down but they always say when one door closes another new door opens!

Still sick and I'm not the only one

Ick! I hate to say it but I am still super duper sick. I hate whining but I don't remember the last time I have been this sick. I lost my voice 5 days ago and have yet to find it (good thing for hubby and kids I guess), I have an ear infection, chest infection, headache, sore throat, really I could go on but I think I already sound pathetic enough. So I sit here with the computer and my nice cup of hot tea in the fabulous mug my BFF gave me for Christmas. She even made the holder thingy.
Also, I'm not the only one sick. My poor dog Abby (my first born) ; ) is terribly sick. She has been throwing up and lethargic for 3 days. We took her to the vet and they think she has the flu (who knew dogs get the flu???) but she still isn't doing well. I feel so down about it since she is 10 years old but I'm hoping she has many more year ahead of her. I feel so sad that we can't do more to help her. She really is the best dog ever. I keep wondering what will happen if she does pass. The girls will be devastated and I can guarantee that I will not cope well since I have had her since she was 10 weeks old.

Isn't she the sweetest!!!
I apologize for such a downer post today. It's not like me to be like this. Here we assume we're going to start the New Years out right and we have had nothing but sickness and sadness. At least the kids aren't sick anymore : )
I do have some good news though which I promise to share next week. I'm thinking Monday????
So please send me lots of get better vibes for both me and my Abby dog.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!!!

Blue Moon sketch

Hey everyone, who's back onto the swing of things post holidays? My little one was back at preschool this morning and it felt great (except that I am super sick). Anyways, I'm a very organized person and I hate not having a routine so I'm a happy momma today especially now that I am on antibiotics. Anyways onto more important things...
Blue Moon Scrapbooking is my favourite online scrap store next to my 2 favourite LSS! Whatever my LSS's don't carry I get through Blue Moon. So for January they have a sketch challenge up.
I love this sketch. So many possibilities!!! So here is what I came up with:

I punched my pattern papers with different edge punches and instead of a big journal area I just journaled above and below my photo. I used one of my Studio Calico kits with a few other goodies as well. I don't know if you can see it very well but I also spritzed a wee bit of Mister Hueys in Lunch Tray. Love that colour!!!!
So as much as I would love to win the $40 GC to Blue Moon I will pass on the info so you can play along too. Go HERE for the details!!!

December kits

Hi everyone, how is the new year treating you? Besides our big New Years party we had a pretty quiet 2 weeks, which meant more scrapbooking : )
Usually Jacquelin does the instructions for Scrapbook Parades monthly kits but she had a very unfortunate event happen in her household. You can read about that on her blog. Anyways, I got the fabulous opportunity to work with the kit and well... I loved it!!!
Here is one of the layouts I created. You can go over to the Scrapbook Parade blog and see the other layouts I created with full instructions.
On to other good things. One of my favourite challenge blogs has another fabulous challenge going on. These are a few of my favourite things is doing "my favourite designer"!!!!
Well their last challenge pretty much was about my favourite designer anyways you can see the post about that HERE. Since Kaori Watanabe is one of my favourite designers it isn't hard for my layouts to look a bit similar to hers. I love, love, love her style!!! So here is a layout based again on her style.
There is still some time to play along with These are a few of my favourite things. We always love everyone to join in so go HERE for all of the details!

One last thing... I have some very exciting news to share, well a few things but you'll have to wait a few more days ; )

Happy New Year

Goodbye 2010 hello 2011! Sorry no pictures today of our festivities. I had friends take pictures for me since I was a bit busy being the hostess.
We had a kid friendly party last night and rung in the new year a bit early. We did a countdown and everything. The kids really enjoyed it and I'm pretty sue the big kids had fun too : )
Just thought I would post about a fabulous Canadian company that doesn't get enough air time.
Harmonie is a French Canadian Scrapbooking company. They have fabulous products and wonderful designs. I just wish more stores carried them.
Right now Harmonie is having a blog contest. You can visit them HERE for all of those details.

I want to wish everyone a happy new year and that 2011 brings you much joy, happiness and prosperity!
